Designing an AI-powered search engine with enhanced UX

The founders of Pika AI set out to create a better search engine, dedicated to helping users discover the most relevant and captivating information across the web. Their approach involves curation and indexing of premium sources, all harnessed through AI technology. We were entrusted to create a search engine with an enhanced user experience, built on the intersection of great UX and access to a wide range of information.
Five design phases that shaped the experience
Revolutionizing Search
We created an inviting, warm, and familiar experience. Pika's search page features a clean and friendly interface, following established search engine practices to guarantee users a recognizable and comfortable search experience.

Developing AI-Powered Chat System
We focused on creating an AI-powered chat system that enhances the search experience and significantly reduces search time. The AI widget is strategically positioned below the search bar, accentuated by vibrant colors to ensure prominent visibility and guide users effortlessly into initiating a chat.
Streamlining Mobile Experience
We invested considerable effort in optimizing the mobile user experience, acknowledging the significant percentage of users who rely on mobile devices. With a strategic focus on consistency, we retained the same design system, ensuring that our AI chat remains a prominent and accessible feature across all platforms.

Elevating Search Efficiency
As users input their search queries, they are presented with a dynamic results page offering a rich array of content. The page adheres to the widely recognized F-pattern, optimizing the user's visual journey with a block-based design system and linear attributes for intuitive information flow.

Tailoring Personalized Results
Pika AI provides users with precisely tailored results based on their inquiries. The technology selects the most suitable widgets from a wide range and arranges them in order of relevance, ensuring the most important information comes first.
